Old Tires, New Life

Giving new life to an old tire was fun. Not only functional but it has kept one small piece out of the landfill.

Used an old tire we had for too long. I scrubbed it down thoroughly and disinfected it. Since my sister and her hubs were remodeling my niece’s room and making it awesome for her, we decided to contribute a cute reading chair with storage.

The bottom and the seat were made form 1/4 fiberboard. Adding foam insulation on the bottom to protect from nails and wood pieces. Handy Hubs then added 2X2 supports on the inside of the tire for strength. Hand sewed the cushion and stuffed it. a little more recycling with pop tops and fabric for a handle to open the seat.
